The government reported that “Food at Home” is now up 11.9% in the past 12 months and we saw average Wholesale prices up 1.85% just last week.  So it is even more important that you know what possible opportunities there are to save money on your purchases. We also know that you don’t always want to have to change your vendor. All of the opportunities below are from within single distributors! So here are the deals this week: 

tl;dr 

  • We are seeing more savings across different brands and with characteristics and less from frozen or fresh to frozen options, though those remain the largest deals. 

  •  Produce (40%) has the biggest potential savings this week, followed by Meat & Poultry (32%) and Seafood (32%). 

  • You can find deals of 29%-34% from single vendors with slightly larger opportunities across vendors (31%-41%).  You may find some additional savings if you have multiple vendors. 

  • Potential Cash and Carry savings are up BIG this week (48%), so if you live close by it might be worth checking out your options online. 


Brand

The biggest savings this week were on similar products from different brands. Keeping most attributes consistent, there definitely are trends in several product categories where you can find better deals with some brands than others. Frozen

Fewer Frozen deals again this week, but they continue to be the biggest. Fresh to Frozen discounts are about double the savings of fresh vs frozen. If a frozen option works for you, this can be an excellent opportunity to get your normal product at a huge discount. Frozen product can also give you a buffer with uncertain traffic.
