Market Overview

We continue to see a wide variance in how wholesale prices are tracking with commodity prices. Overall average commodity prices have stayed relatively flat and are down 1.6% week over week. Average wholesale prices have at least aligned directionally and are down 2.72% week over week.

The biggest increases are in Chicken Breast (up 5.3%), Shell Eggs (up 7.3%), and Pork Shoulder (up 3.9%). The biggest drops are Fresh Potatoes (down 15.2%), Fresh Lettuce (down 7.8%), and Ground Beef (down 6.5%).

If you are looking for your best price per pound, pork continues to be a great option and your produce prices should be coming down as well.

Ground Beef

Commodity Prices seeing a 1.1% decrease, look for broadliners to match in the coming weeks and continue to decrease price (down 6.5% WoW).

Shell Eggs

Wholesale prices up 7% over the past week, should see some leveling out as commodity prices remain steady.

Pork Loin

Remaining steady after experiencing some drops correcting to the commodity market, commodity prices look stable, should continue on the broadliner side.

Pork Shoulder

Remains steady with slight increases in commodity and broadliner and looks to continue this way in the coming weeks.

Fresh Lettuce

Wholesale prices are down 7.8% and commodity prices are down 5.4%. Look for the price drop to continue if commodity prices keep dropping.

Fresh Potatoes

Big drop on the broadliner side (15.2%) as the commodity market remains stable. Expect broadliner price to continue to drop until back in line with commodity.

Chicken Breast

Likely to see some stabilization after 5.3% increases last week. Commodity prices not rising as quickly.

Fresh Bell Pepper

Commodity market appears to have stabilized and expect broadliner prices to do the same.

Fresh Onion

Wholesales prices drop 6.5%. Expect that drop to continue to come back in line with commodity trends.
